Knitted fabrics are formed on knitting machines that use needles to form the yarn into loops. The two basic categories of Circular Circular Knitted Fabrics are :
 Filling (sometimes called weft) Knits
Warp Knits
The terms weft and warp are borrowed from weaving terminology. Weft knits are formed by yarns that travel across the width (weft direction) of the textile. Weft knitted fabric is generally highly elastic and highly drape able, two attributes, which make it suitable for a wide range of apparel applications. Weft knitted fabric is porous and comfortable both for outer garments and undergarments.
Weft knit fabrics include : plain knits or jersey knits (T-shirt fabric), pantyhose, velours, fake fur, double knits and knit terry fabric.
While, the Warp knits are formed by yarns that travel the length (warp direction) of the textile, Generally filling knits have more stretch in the cross-wise direction than the lengthwise direction.
One of the most important properties of textiles that contribute to wearer comfort is stretch. With Circular Circular Knitted Fabrics, the yarn path length may be several times that of the fabric length, so that stretch in knitted structures can be in excess of 100%. This varies with the nature of the structure and its packing density.
The Knits division of Chiripal Group commenced operations in May, 2000. With a total production capacity of 150 Tonnes/Month, the knitting division is a major focus area. We use single jersey, double jersey and terry machines of various gauges. Raw materials for knits are procured from the best sources in the country. We can start monitoring the quality of the fabric right from the yarn stage, thanks to our own yarn production unit Nova Petrochemicals Limited.
